Dr. Paul I. Amerling, D.V.M., is a highly experienced and respected veterinarian who specializes in supporting individual veterinary professionals, practice owners, and managers. With over 35 years in the veterinary field, Dr. Amerling brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to assist you in achieving your goals.
My Background
Dr. Amerling obtained his DVM degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and The University of Missouri. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science and Agricultural Biochemistry, with a Minor in Biology, from the University of Delaware, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the industry.
Throughout his extensive career, Dr. Amerling had successfully owned and operated the Miller Clark Animal Hospital in Mamaroneck, NY, until 2019. . He has also served as an associate veterinarian at various animal hospitals and provided consulting and locum services to hospitals in the area. Dr. Amerling’s dedication extends beyond his own practice, as he actively mentors fellow veterinarians and serves as an adjunct professor at Norwalk Community College.
My Experience
Recognizing the importance of organized veterinary medicine, Dr. Amerling actively participates in various professional associations. He is a proud member of the New York State Veterinary Medical Society (NYSVMS) and the Westchester-Rockland Veterinary Medical Association (WRVMA), where he has held leadership positions. Dr. Amerling currently serves as the NY Alternate Delegate to the AVMA and has represented the NYSVMS on the Executive Board. In 2023, he served as President of the NYSVMS, the fourth-largest state veterinary association in the nation.
My Commitment
Dr. Amerling’s commitment to the well-being of both animals and people is evident through his involvement in disaster relief work. Following the 9/11 attacks, he contributed his skills as a staff veterinarian at Ground Zero, and he recently returned from Asheville, NC, where he provided disaster relief services to the local animals following hurricane Helene. Dr. Amerling has also served many years as a member of the Board of Directors of the Humane Society of Westchester.
Beyond veterinary medicine, Dr. Amerling is actively engaged in his community. He has served as a CubMaster and Den Leader for the Boy Scouts of America and coached youth basketball for several years. Furthermore, his training in firefighting operations, hazardous materials awareness, and first aid, CPR, and AED certification makes him a valuable asset as a volunteer firefighter, and contributor to the common good within his community.
My Accomplishments
Dr. Amerling’s contributions to the field have not gone unnoticed. He has been recognized as one of Westchester County’s “Top Vets” multiple times, showcasing his dedication to providing exceptional care. Notably, he spearheaded a successful campaign to establish an Associate Degree program in Veterinary Technology at Westchester Community College, which received AVMA accreditation in 2014. Dr. Amerling has received numerous accolades for his outstanding achievements, including a Merit Award from the WRVMA, a Certificate of Recognition from the NYSVMS, and a Presidential Citation from the NYSVMS. His leadership qualities have also led to multiple invitations to attend the AVMA Veterinary Leadership Conference as a representative from the NYSVMS.
